Stormbound

This painting emerged intuitively, without me consciously setting out to tell a particular story. I had heard stories of refugees who had drowned at sea, and somehow that stayed with me. As the painting developed, I began to see a small, empty boat beneath a large, dark form — almost like a heavy cloud hanging above it. For me, there is a sense of absence here, as if something has already happened.
