I love the raw, slightly cold colours and the restrained expression of this painting. I worked intuitively with soft blues, greys and dark contrasts, without setting out to paint anything specific. Then, almost out of nowhere, a landscape appeared. Those unexpected moments are what I love about the way I paint.
