The Japanese Woman

This is one of my favourite paintings. I worked with a very limited palette, allowing the figures to emerge intuitively and almost become part of one another. I love the quiet balance of the composition and the way the figures seem to merge with their surroundings. Despite the movement in the lines, there is a sense of stillness and calm that I find very special.
